Atmosphere
Mixed-Use
72 Loft Residential Units
15,000 s.f. Retail / Commercial
San Diego, California
Located within walking distance of the Gaslamp Quarter, restaurants, markets and the bay, the 72, two-story loft units will provide views to the east of Cortez Hill and west to the San Diego Bay. The 184,000 square foot Loft building will rise nine stories above grade with three levels of subterranean secured parking and a common landscaped courtyard. Designed with an open loft industrial theme, all of the concrete, steel and masonry will be left exposed, and each unit will have two stories of open space in the living areas with full height exterior glass walls. The units average 1,250 square feet and will have private balconies, utility/laundry rooms, contemporary kitchens and bathrooms. To encourage the “downtown” experience, the units are designed to facilitate both living and working. Owners will have the option to continue with the open loft theme or create bedrooms and offices with glass, solid or sliding wall panels. The west facing units will have unobstructed bay views and the top floor units will have barrel vaulted roofs with clerestory windows for space and northern light. The ground floor will consist of a common entry lobby and retail shops.
The design of Atmosphere with its curved roofs, transparent sea green facades, and white sail canopies, clearly evokes the tradition of San Diego’s nautical heritage.
