Gold Nugget Award of Merit: “Outstanding Mixed-Use” Pacific Coast Builders Conference 2009
The Lofts at Moonlight Beach is a mixed-use, live/work community built within the existing commercial and residential neighborhood of the North 101 corridor in Encinitas. The conceptual design for the project created a community for individuals to live, as well as own and operate their own commercial establishments. Through the use of quality and creative architecture, the project supports diverse, small-scale shops and family owned, village-scale businesses that serve the local neighborhood and visitors to Encinitas. These commercial spaces meld with the neighborhood’s design, opening onto pedestrian oriented plazas finished with natural landscaping, fountains, and enhanced natural paving.
The residences are designed as two-story loft type units over the commercial space below. The owner of the residence can be the owner of the shop below and have the residence connected directly to the shop. The residences provide high quality housing within the mixed-use community. Upper floors step back from the plaza and alley, providing private terraces and balconies for the residents. The units vary in size from one, two, and three bedrooms. Each unit has at least one attached parking space in a private garage, and one space in the basement below. There are a total of 18 units that range from 1,500 square feet up to 2,500 square feet. Several of the units have roof-top decks with panoramic ocean views.
The Lofts at Moonlight Beach provide a diverse community of residences, shops and public plazas that enhance and stimulate the existing neighborhood of Encinitas.
